Submariner's Muse

Finding a community living in a rusty old submarine, that is miraculously embedded in a pine forest is a theme I had to paint. Again the idea of the impossible made possible is a theme that runs through my work. In this case taking the less-ordinary and making it extraordinary, a quirky, desirable residence that is hard to find.

They say an English man's home is his castle. This is my idea of a retreat that is slightly lacking in grandure, but is, nevertheless an attractive 'little kingdom' that is easily manageable.

Gladiator

This lead sculpture can be found in the gardens of Burton Agnes Hall, East Yorkshire. The patina that exists on his body has a beauty all its own. Standing in all weathers his body has been transformed by the elements and this was what I wanted to capture in this work.

Blossom Women

This my most recent painting depicting my Tree Women theme. I painted this in the spring and wanted to capture a fleeting moment of their playfulness among the birch trees; tossing their blossom petals on a the breeze.

The Bridge Keepers

This painting was inspired by old iron bridges of yesteryear. They sit in the landscape, proudly boasting their individual feats of engineering, though often overlooked or forgotten. This is a well loved bridge, though it no longer functions, its affectionate upkeep is of utmost importance.
